Call for Nominations:

President and Representatives-at-Large 2008

Posted: 2 September 2007

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

President and Representatives-at-Large 2008

Deadline for Nominations: 30th September, 2007

Elections for the 2009-2010 IACM President and two new Board Member (Representatives-at-Large) will take place in November, 2007. I am now calling for nominations (including self-nominations) for these positions.

If you weren’t at this year’s Business Meeting, now is your chance to nominate some-one for either President or Representative-at-Large. Email your nominations to me at m.olekalns@mbs.edu by 30th September.

Joining the IACM Board gives you the opportunity to become more involved with IACM and to shape our future as an organization. As a past Representative-at-Large, past Local Arrangements Chair and President-Elect I can confidently say joining the Board is a great experience.

What do you need to do? For either position, you need to make a 3-year commitment to IACM. If you are elected, you will need to attend Board meetings in 2008, 2009 and 2010. I have summarized the responsibilities for these positions below – if you wanted a longer description, take at look at the Fall/Winter 2006 Signal.

Representatives-at-Large

First-year RaL chair IACM’s awards committees. As a 1 st year RaL, you will select the committee selects the Best Dissertation (or Book) published in the past 2 years OR Best Published Article (Chapter).

Second-year RaL serve as advisors to and supporters of the editor of NCMR. They will be asked to help the editor promote the journal by identifying editors and contributors for one special issue.

President-Elect

The President-Elect selects the conference site for their term (in this case, 2010, making it a US location) and oversees arrangements for the conference; appoints a Program Chair and a Local Arrangements Chair; and runs the nomination and election process for the next President-Elect and the new RaL.

President

The President oversees the election of officers; works with IACM to achieve its purpose; and convenes and chairs the annual Board of Directors’ and Business meetings. The President ensures the smooth running of IACM by overseeing the activities of IACM, including the operation of all standing committees, the filling of any vacant positions, such as Executive Officer, and conference arrangements.
