The Review Process

Because of the breadth of the NCMR domain, we encourage authors to nominate potential reviewers, and we make an attempt to include one of the nominated individuals as a reviewer.  To nominate potential reviewers, authors should include the names, email addresses, mailing addresses, and contact numbers of up to four reviewers, as well as a brief (sentence or two) justification for the nomination.

Desk Rejects. When a manuscript is first received, the editor makes an initial judgment (sometimes with the assistance of an expedited blind review) about the suitability of the manuscript for NCMR.  Manuscripts that do not appear to fit the mission of NCMR or which contain serious flaws or small contributions may be rejected at this point.

Normal Reviews.  Manuscripts are reviewed in a double-blind process by three reviewers. Manuscripts prepared in a way that compromises blind review may be returned for revision prior to being reviewed or may receive a desk reject. For each manuscript that passes the initial review stage, the editor assigns an action editor.  The action editor assigns three reviewers and upon completion of the review, makes a recommendation to the editor, who then makes a final decision on the manuscript.

As a condition of final acceptance, author(s) must remove print and electronic forms of their paper from any website, as well as any links to the full text. In addition, authors are responsible for ensuring that, if any part of their paper has been copyrighted, that the copyright can and will be transferred when the paper has been accepted.
